Bosses in the office, not on the beach

The Wall Street Journal reported that bosses are working from their company’s office this summer (gasp!), rather than the beach. This is part of a strategy to woo their subordinates back to cubicles as bosses are hoping that their presence in the office will encourage employees to follow suit. Bosses might need to go back to the drawing board on this one.

Flexible work hours top the list of in-demand employee benefits

A new study finds that flexible work hours are the most in-demand job benefit. ​Three-quarters of employees now consider flexible work hours to be the most desirable employee benefit—topping other benefits like family heath insurance, company-sponsored retirement plans or pensions, and four-day work weeks.

Bahn Mis over bagels

The Wall Street Journal reported that companies are trying to incentivize workers back into the office with free food. But pizza and bagels aren’t going to cut it. Workers are scheduling their in-office days around gourmet foods like burritos stuffed with soft tofu and Bahn Mis.

The Great Resignation or the Great Reshuffle?

The World Economic Forum reported on new research by McKinsey that found that workers have been quitting their jobs and heading to new industries at head-turning rates. Only about one third of workers who have quit their job in the past two years have taken a new job in the same industry. An eye-popping 72% of workers in public and social services sectors have changed industries or left the workforce.​​

Apple inks its RTO date

Apple announced its return to office date. Starting on September 5, all corporate employees will be required to work from the office at least three days per week. Whereas previously employees would be required to come into the office Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, they are now required to come in Tuesdays and Thursdays with the third day determined at the team level.
