Soapworks secures two shortlists at The Pineapple Awards 2021

First Base has been shortlisted for two awards at The Pineapples Awards, which look to celebrate the best in place. Organised by The Developer magazine, in association with the Design Council and hosted at the Festival of Place event in July, The Pineapples look to commend developments and places where people thrive and want to live, work, play, shop and learn.

Soapworks, by First Base, has been shortlisted for ‘Activation’ and ‘Community Engagement’ categories.

Centre of Gravity exhibition at Soapworks has been shortlisted for the ‘Activation’ category, an award which looks to celebrate meanwhile projects, installations, pop-ups and initiatives that enhance the life of a place. Judges will be looking for a singular work or event that has contributed to the life of a place, either through its fostering of community, welcoming visitors and attracting tenants, or generally encouraging people to dwell, live, work, connect, learn and play.

Soapworks has also been shortlisted for ‘Community Engagement’ in acknowledgement of meaningful community engagement that contributes to the creation of a place. The award will commend engagement that is either digital or physical, with judges considering how the initiative connected meaningfully with stakeholders and citizens and how their feedback contributed to the design and development process.

The entries for ‘Activation’ and ‘Community Engagement’ at Soapworks will be presented live to judges at The Festival of Place event 12-16 July.
