Happy residents celebrate five years in Prince Charles’s ‘favourite’ London scheme

Highbury Gardens, on Holloway Road, famously visited by Prince Charles celebrated its five year anniversary with a garden party for residents and staff.

In attendance was Islington Mayor Councillor Una O’Halloran and Councillor of the Highbury East Ward of Islington Caroline Russell along with several residents, many of whom have lived there since it completed in 2012. The afternoon consisted of art and craft for kids, street food, crazy golf and music for all to enjoy.

Highbury Gardens was designed by renowned architects, Porphyrios Associates in consultation with the Princes Foundation.  Prince Charles personally visited, met residents and toured Highbury Gardens and praised the design quality and commitment engagement.

First Base, the London-based urban development company, is the driving force behind the celebrated development, which has received regional and national awards for its unique design and affordability.

Olaide Oboh, Head of Communications & External Relations at First Base said: “The success of Highbury Gardens is down to the fantastic community spirit and we are proud to be a part of it. This scheme is evidence of how the public and private sector can collaborate to deliver a mixed tenure community, jobs and make a lasting contribution to the area.”
