It’s hard to believe that its five years already since we all celebrated Super Saturday/Sunday in the magical Olympic Stadium.
The weeks leading up to the Games were tense. None of us were competing in the Games but as owners of half of the homes within the ‘Olympic Village’, we were keeping a very close eye.
For us, whilst the Games were absolutely fantastic; our main focus was post Games and transforming the Olympic Village into a community for people to live and work.
As soon as the last events finished and the athletes started to leave the Olympic Village; we set to work. Major works were carried out and within months, we alongside our partners who make up Triathlon Homes were proud owners of 1,379 homes in East Village.
The task over the next few months involved supporting hundreds of families to view and move in to their homes, supporting them in their new homes and helping to build the new community.
Five years have passed and we have a thriving community of residents, businesses, schools, health facilities, and retailers all living and working, side by side and calling East Village their home.
We are proud to have been involved in this and we firmly believe that this mixed use, mixed tenure, infrastructure led approach to regeneration has to be the way in which we develop new places of the future.
