PRESS RELEASE

LOCAL DEVELOPER TO HOLD EXHIBITION FOR ISLINGTON RESIDENTS

- First Base invites community to view new plans for Holloway Road scheme -

Residents in Islington are being invited to an exhibition to view revised plans for a new mixed-use development on the site of the former Mann & Overton Taxi Showroom at 52 Holloway Road.

Proposals for a mixed-use scheme including 128 new homes were first submitted by residential-led urban regeneration developer, First Base, and national regeneration agency, English Partnerships, to Islington Council in March this year. However, following feedback from the local community, plans have been revised and an alternative application will be submitted to the Council on Friday 29th June.

To enable local residents to view the plans, two public exhibitions will take place on site at 52 Holloway Road on Wednesday 11th between 4-7pm and Saturday 14th July, between 2-5pm.

Elliot Lipton, Managing Director of First Base, comments, "As a business, we are committed to building communities. The aim of the proposed scheme at 52 Holloway Road is to revitalise what is currently a disused site, creating a catalyst for future regeneration in the area.

"Our plans will provide much needed affordable and family homes for the London Borough of Islington, but it's vital that the scheme works in the context of the wider community. To ensure the best possible solution for this site, we're very keen to work with all those who live and work in the neighbourhood, which is why we are encouraging local people to attend the exhibitions to see the revised plans for themselves."

The scheme will be developed with English Partnerships as part of the London Wide Initiative (LWI), a scheme to fast-track more quality affordable homes in Greater London. The LWI will focus on a portfolio of sites to deliver up to 4,500 homes over the next five years of which around 1,500 will be affordable homes for key workers.
